I would like to enter this piece in A Vintage Journey's challenge "Say It With Words". The challenge details may be found HERE. As always, I enjoyed the entries of the DT, but one was particularly interesting and fun to me and I wanted to give it a try. Candy's file folder mini book really caught my eye. I loved the idea of making an album from file folders. Following Candy's directions found on her blog Creativity is Contagious, I created a mini version of a file folder album. I decided to keep it as a 4-panel fold-out.
After constructing the file folder album, I covered each page with vintage inspired patterned papers. I especially loved the Kaiser Craft paper with the word Joyeusete printed on it. From what I could find by researching, the word translated means "what not".
Inside, my chosen "words" were stamped using a Stampabilities stamp set. I made tags and pockets and inked them with TH Vintage Photo and then spritzed with water, re-inked, and spritzed again until I got the vintage distressed look. I then used TH dies, stamps, and stencils to embellish each tag and pocket. The words featured are Joy, Smile, Create, Happiness, Enjoy, and of course the greatest of words Love.
Thank you to The Funkie Junkie Boutique for the butterflies cut from old book pages. They were a surprise gift tucked into my last order and were the perfect embellishment for my project.
The cover of the album was embellished with "crushed" flowers made from book pages and spritzed with Perfect Pearls Mists Mint. A fun tutorial for these flowers may be found HERE.
