Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas Challenge BONUS Tag #1

Today I am submitting my entry for the Bonus Tag #1 in the Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas Challenge.  The challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

The Funkie Junkie gave us a little more time before the challenge expires.  The inspiration BONUS TAG #1 created by FJ may be seen HERE.  When I saw the inspiration tag, it was an "AH HA" moment for me.  Folding the tag into 3 sections to use as thank you cards is brilliant.  FJ also introduced a new technique from Tim Holtz using his frosted film.  The technique may be seen HERE.

I began by dragging a manila tag through a green DS from Tim Holtz called peeled paint.   I added my all time favorite, brushed pewter to the mix.  I then stamped randomly with an ivy stamp from CraftSmart.

I used a 6x6 pad of Fancy Pants Merry Little Christmas.  Have you ever had paper you loved so much you had a hard time using it?  This is that paper for me.  But, I made myself cut it and I used it for a plaque to place my ivy on.  I love the dainty little ivy design.  The leaves were cut from another coordinating paper from the same collection.  I wanted to recreate the Tim Holtz frosted film technique, but due to the lack of Tim Holtz frosted film in my local craft stores, I used vellum to frost my ivy leaves.  I'll need to be visiting The FUNKIE JUNKIE BOUTIQUE for some of that frosted film!!

On the inside, I used another plaque of my beloved Fancy Pants paper and dry embossed it with a miniature Texture Fades embossing folder.  I stamped a Thank You from Rubber Stampede and embossed it in black EP.  I left room for a "very short" note at the bottom but couldn't resist using a favorite stamp with a sentiment I think is appropriate for a Christmas thank you.  This stamp is from Little Yellow Bicycle Circles. The ivy strip at the bottom was cut on my Cricut from Teresa Collins Christmas Holly and frosted with vellum.

I added a bow died in the green DS for the closure.  Thank YOU, FJ, for the wonderful inspiration tag.  Another new technique and new ideas.

Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas Tag #12

The biggest day of the year is behind us for 2013.  All that's left is to do is to carry.all.the.decorations.up.those.stairs!!
But before I even THINK about it, I am back to my craft table doing what I love the most - working toward creating another tag for Funkie Junkie 12 TAGS OF CHRISTMAS challenge,  Read about the challenge and rules.  It is a very generous prize she is giving.  The challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

Today I completed my entry for Funkie Junkie's Inspiration TAG #12.  The inspiration tag delighted me.  I loved the gold and white color scheme and the fact that it was mostly embossing and stamping.  So, I pretty much cased the inspiration tag using the supplies I had.

I made a star stencil by punching little stars out of CS.  After inking the stars with VersaMark, I embossed them with gold detail EP.  I had a lace border stamp from Lost & Found which I used VERY sparingly.  The golden frame is from an unknown stamp set.  I had this lovely print of Christmas Children which was a freebie from Ephemera's Vintage Garden.  She is generous in providing beautiful FREE prints.
I LOVED embossing around the edges of the tag with gold.  Another new technique I'm putting in my bank. I googled Frantage to see what that was all about and was intrigued.  Without heading to the store, I just used the technique and splattered my tag with gold EP and heated it from the BACK.  Loved the effect.

My FAVORITE elements of the inspiration card were the beautiful bows embellished with vintage lace, safety pin, and jingle bell.  I used seam binding which I touched up with a gold ink pad.  The safety pins are Tim Holtz Ideaology.  I will be using these beautiful bows time and time again.  Thank you, FJ, for this little gold mine of treasures in this inspiration tag.

I really want to try the techniques FJ used, but I'll need some supplies - Wendy Vecchi's gold embossing paste, Distress Embossing Ink, and Queen's Gold EP.  I also would LOVE to have the Tim Holtz star stencil.  Luckily, I know JUST THE PLACE to get all of those supplies - The FUNKIE JUNKIE BOUTIQUE!!!!  It truly is a treasure chest.

Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas Tag #11

It's Christmas Day.  Everyone has had a wonderful day, but have now found their special place where they are comfortable and happy.  My place is in my craft room working on the Funkie Junkie challenge!  The challenge rules are HERE.  I couldn't wait to get in here and have some alone time.  This entry is Tag #11.  Funkie Junkie offered the tag seen HERE as our inspiration.  The challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique,

I must say I loved her tag so much that I tried to recreate it using all of her wonderful ideas.
I started with stamping my tag with a music stamp in brown.  I loved the technique used for Challenge TAG #8 by first dry embossing my tag with a poinsettia texture fade folder, stamping a holly stamp over it, and heat embossing with clear EP.  Then  I began to add the color at the top using a combination of Brushed Pewter and Broken China.  As I moved towards the bottom, I switched to Tarnished Brass and Vintage Photo mixed together.  I spritzed the entire card with Perfect Pearls Biscotti.  The tag was glistening with beautiful color and the holly leaves were peeking out from underneath the color.

I cut the trees using Tim Holtz Mini Pine tree and Holly Set.  These baby trees are precious and the perfect size for the small tags I use.  The trees were cut out of heavy CS and then embossed times 3 with white EP. Next, I cut the deer from Tim Holtz Reindeer Flight.  I embossed the deer times 3 using gold EP.  This is where I ran into problems.  When glittering my deer, as did FJ, I could not get the glitter to stick.  I tried several times using Glossy Accents, Martha Stewart glitter glue, and then tried some old fashioned Elmer's clear glue.  The glitter just fell off.  Any help or tips on glittering would be very much appreciated.
To the top of the tag, I added an oval done in the same technique of stamp, clear emboss, and then DI (Vintage Photo) over the top.  As FJ inspired, I embellished with blue glitter snowflakes.

I added a title block to the bottom embossing the sentiment with black EP and then coloring the plaque with Broken China and Vintage Photo DI.  The plaque was attached with brads.

Thanks to FJ for the inspiration tag.  I loved it this week and hope my interpretation does it justice (except for the disastrous glittering).  I'm thinking I need a different type of glitter which cannot be purchased in any store here in Oklahoma, but CAN BE purchased at The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  Please visit the boutique.  You will be happy.

Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas Challenge Tag #10

The 12 Tags of Christmas Challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

Today, I am entering my version of inspiration tag NUMBER 10, which can be seen HERE.  There were several things I LOVED about Tag 10.  The first thing was FJ's dry embossing technique using Tim Holtz's diffuser!   I just had to get me one of those!  I ordered it along with a holly and poinsettia embossing folder.  I used my new toys on a piece of red CS and then used forest moss DI over the embossed images.

However, that was not the only thing I loved about FJ's inspiration.  The FRAME die!  I died for it, so I had to order that too!  I cut it out and silver embossed it and glittered it.  For the inside of the frame, I used some Santa stamps and a Merry Christmas sentiment.

For embellishment at the bottom, I added holly leaves cut from Tim Holtz dies and a crinkled ribbon bow.

Again, with this week's challenge, I used some new techniques and learned a few things.  Thank you, Funkie Junkie for your inspiration.  All of the rules of this 12 Tags of Christmas Challenge may be read HERE,  We are almost to the finish line; HOWEVER, FJ has extended the deadline date to JANUARY 8, 2014 (details HERE).  So still time to join the challenge.

If you're like me, you will see the interesting techniques and tools used by The Funkie Junkie in her inspiration tags and WANT THEM!  For that moment when you just gotta have it, click on The Funkie Junkie Boutique to find the wonderland.

Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas Challenge Tag #9

I am in pursuit of the finish line for The Funkie Junkie's 12 tags of Christmas challenge.  You can read all about her challenge, the rules, requirements, and PRIZES (yay!) HERE.  The challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  The Funkie Junkie has provided some incredible inspiration for this challenge.  The Week #9 inspiration tag, seen HERE really threw me for a loop.  I studied her inspiration tag for a very long time.  The thing I noticed at very first glance was the color scheme of blue and silver.  Such a beautiful combination, but not ordinarily used for the Christmas season.  I wanted to do a tag with that color scheme.  I also loved the silver embossing and accents on the inspiration tag and FJ's use of plaques.

I started my tag with Broken China DS mixed with Brushed Pewter DS.  I sponged the mixture on in an even fashion.  The color is beautiful and has a glistening sheen.  I then stamped and embossed snowflakes using silver EP in a random pattern all over the tag.  I cut a plaque and also embossed silver snowflakes on it.  I then cut a smaller plaque in black paper and stamped and embossed music notes on that.  The third plaque was stamped with the Sentiment Walking in a Winter Wonderland by Inkadinkadoo.

Winter wonderland is exactly what this cool color combination reminds me of.  I cut and silver embossed large snowflakes and attached them with brads.  I decided to make a small winter "garden" by starting with an empty ribbon roll, painting it with Picket Fence DP, then glittering it with silver glitter.  Inside this, I created the garden using Tim Holtz's festive greenery strip die.  I cut most of the pieces from white CS and painted them with the same color combination as the tag.  For the leaves I used musical notes paper and  glittered them..  Small pine cones were added as embellishment.  The garden is resting on a piece of gauze died to match.

The gauze was also used at the top of the tag.

I am learning there are more new ways to create paper crafts than I ever dreamed of.  The techniques need special supplies and these supplies can be purchased at The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  So much fun to shop the boutique.

Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas Challenge Tag #8

The challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

WEEK 8 tag was inspired by sample tag seen HERE.  I was very intrigued by the technique described by FJ as introduced by Tammy Tuttorow.  This was all new for me, but I was enticed to try it.  I loved how it turned out.  I also liked FJ's title block (or plaque) on her tag which was tied to the side with string  I cut out the plaques on craft CS using my Cricut.  I lightly stamped the background of the plaques using Vintage Photo DI and then embossed the sentiment using Black Sparkly EP. I attached the large plaque to the tag using twine to the side.  I added a little sparkle with tinsel.   I embossed large snowflakes in silver.  I made the roses using a Sizzix die called Flowers 3D.  The flowers were glittered and popped up on the snow flakes.  Silvery seam binding was Mod Podged, scrunched, and tied to the top.

The challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

WEEK SEVEN tag was inspired by sample tag seen HERE  I was delighted to see tags-on-tags.  I have a Tim Holtz die called Tiny Tags and Tabs that I really love.  It was fun to have a chance to use it for my R E D.  The tags were cut from MME Mistletoe Magic 6x6 Designer Pad. Several of the papers were used to cover the tag and then it was dry embossed (which is another part of the inspiration tag I used).  The "mounted" Rudolph was cut from craft CS using my Cricut.  I added a title block for Rudolph and embellished him with a "24", the number he's famous for. The tag was topped off with seam binding dyed with Fired Brick DI.

Week 6 tag was inspired by sample tag seen HERE.  I loved the inspiration tag this week and immediately picked out the things I liked the most, the number "25" and the tree.  I started by sponging a craft tag with walnut DS.  I added a glitter plaid paper from Lost and Found over that.  The calender and sweet floral paper are from Merry Little Christmas North Pole from Fancy Pants Design.  I stitched all of the papers onto the tag.  The tree was cut with a Tim Holtz die in several sections and glued together in a way to make the stripes coordinate.  After putting the tree sections together, I used Stickles to decorate it and popped it up with pop dots.  The ribbon is seam binding which was dyed with Forest Moss DI.

Week 5 tag was inspired by sample tag seen HERE.  I loved the simpleness of the inspiration tag and the medallion with a vintage Santa embossed on it.  I started with a craft tag and using a stencil, sponged Picket Fence dots.  Next, I used a D.O.T.S. stamp for the archway across the top of the card.  This was embossed in Black Sparkly EP.  I cut an oval out of manila and stamped it with music notes using a stamp from Hero Arts.  Another oval from patterned pattern was placed on top of that and a final oval stamped lightly served as the medallion for my vintage Santa.  Santa was embossed in Black Sparkly EP.  The sentiment was cut from a Teresa Collins paper, sponged and distressed.  This tag felt formal to me and I gave it a thin black ribbon and a beaded tassel at the top.

Week 4 tag was inspired by sample tag seen HERE.  I immediately connected with FJ's inspiration tag this week.  Going back to my roots and my first love - Country design.  I started my tag with FancyPantsDesigns Merry Little Christmas paper.  The Christmas tree was cut from one of the papers, adhered to the background and stamped with Little Yellow Bicycle Circles.  I made small "patches" using the same line of papers and stamped them with Faith and Hope stamps from D.O.T.S.  After I had all of my pieces together, I went to the sewing machine and stitched around the edge of the card and then around the patches.  I used some vintage lace to give the patches some character.  The tag was finished up with jute twine and wire wrapped around the top.

Week 3 tag was inspired by sample tag seen HERE. Who could not be inspired by the Nativity, the golden night stars, NOEL, angels, and camels?  I started my tag with beautiful gold and brown papers.  I cut small squares of burlap and placed the letters for NOEL on them.  The nativity stamp (D.O.T.S.) was stamped on craft card stock and embossed using Black Sparkle embossing powder from Personal Stamp Exchange.

I used Cricut cartridge Paper Lace 2 to cut out ornaments, embossed them with the Black Sparkle, and hung them from loopy brads from Tim Holtz.  Stickles on the angel, the star, and the manger finished off the tag.

Participating in this challenge has already given me so many NEW ideas and techniques.  The supplies needed for the techniques are available at The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  Give the shop a visit - you will be mesmerized by the many products FJ offers.

Funkie Junkie 12 Tags of Christmas Challenge Tag #1

I have accepted the challenge of The Funkie Junkie for her 12 Tags of Christmas.  Please check out her instructions, requirements, and guidelines for the challenge HERE.  The Funkie Junkie will provide an inspirational tag to inspire you. Create your own tag using some element of inspiration from the sample tag.  The challenge is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

I have created my first tag based on the sample tag seen HERE.  I love chalkboard and was thrilled to see that FJ had used it!  I gave my tag a beginning layer of paper using teresa collins "Santa's List" collection. Next, I used chalkboard paper from MME Chalk Studio.  I embossed the Santa stamp, which is a very old D.O.T.S. stamp, using white embossing powder.  The sign and LET IT SNOW stamps were then embossed using white embossing powder.  I cut snow flakes using my Cricut and the Let It Snow Christmas Card.  The snowflakes were white embossed.  I added buttons and twine to give them a pop of color.

Participating in this challenge has already given me so many NEW ideas and techniques.  The supplies needed for some of the techniques are available at The Funkie Junkie Boutique.  Give the shop a visit - you will be mesmerized by the many products FJ offers.
